| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description This is light hearted documentary that celebrates the lives of Gay men, their bonding, sense of brotherhood and quest to explore non-urban adventures. From men camping in tents, to men driving luxury motor homes to Gay campgrounds, to a nudist gathering and even spiritual retreat Centers, A Portable Tribe presents an entertaining and unique introduction into a growing yet lesser seen part of Gay male culture. This film does contain some nudity in scenes from a Gay naturist gather, perhaps one of the first times filming at one of these events has been allowed. Informative, entertaining and often poignant visual escape.

"A Portable Tribe: Talking with Campers, Vagabonds and Naked Men"
A Unique Documentary
Amos Lassen
T Joe Murray makes classy documentary movies that deal with issues that are part of the GLBT experience and each of his films is a learning experience that is totally entertaining. "A Portable Tribe" is a film about gay men who love being outdoors; love camping and love being naked. It was filmed at gay campgrounds in Nevada, New York state, Michigan, Florida and California it contains interviews with 34 men. The beauty of these men is that not only accept themselves but they celebrate who they are. One of the ways they do this is by spending time together outdoors. We see men bonding by this experience and I felt their sentence of brotherhood as I watched the film. It is easy to see why the men in the film love their lives. The camping experience gives them a sense of belonging that is not easy to find in urban centers. A particularly interesting part of the film is the California Men Enjoying Naturism segment which was filmed in Malibu. Nude men talk what being together with each other is all about and why such gatherings keep them coming back. I would have thought that gay men who are naked together talk about sex and pursue each other but this is not the case. They simply enjoy being together and they appear very natural. The photography is beautiful and the entire film is light-hearted and totally entertaining. For a preview, have a look at www.aportabletribe.com. I bet after you see it, you will be anxious to see the complete film.
